I’ve spent time for a number of years in Northern New Mexico, captivated by these men. Spending time at Rodeos, large ranch operations as well as family run ranches. The multitude of generations upholding cowboy traditions and managing the land, has drawn me back constantly. It’s a culture that’s changing and disappearing fast. Though these cowboys are undoubtedly hard-edged, due to the hardships of their lives, below rests a strong sense of the pride and purpose – of continuing the iconic way of life in the vulnerability of their futures.
